There will be a new article from Bob here in the next few days…and it’s a great one! In the meantime, Brian Payne & I shot a video this morning as there are occasions when walking in the hills that you may come across some old shell casings. Many are empty and harmless, in fact you can spot themĀ  in a variety of uses (as door-stops and as vases on graves for example).

As there are some which are still live, it is better to leave them all well alone and not to tamper with them at all. Here Brian shows what they look like.

There is no need to panic…those shells have sat in the field quite happily for 70 years, so don’t be afraid of pulling on some suitable footwear and getting out & about! The message is not to touch or tamper with anything like this if you should see it lying on the ground.
